Full Description

This former stables and workshop building was briefly included in a programme of historical building recording, conducted in July 2001, to inform proposed alterations to the adjacent former Old Rising Sun public house (see PRN 44485). The structure dates to the early 19th century, and is single-storey, being built of red bricks with a pitched roof of red clay pantiles. Documentary evidence suggests that the building may have been used as part of a wheelwright's business during the 19th century, and may also have later served as a saloon for the adjacent former alehouse. It then appears to have been used for storage during the later part of the 20th century. {1}
