Full Description

The churchyard at the Church of St James is depicted on the 2nd edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey County Series map. The current church dates from 1847, but an earlier chapel of ease is known to have been on this site prior to this, and it is likely the churchyard is contemporary with the chapel (see PRN 37869). The exact date of the establishment of the chapel is uncertain, but may have been in about 1645, when the original Church of St James was destroyed (see PRN 34163). {1}
