Full Description

A scatter of Mesolithic or early Neolithic flints was identified in March 2014, during a programme of systematic field walking, conducted in the field to the west of the Church of St John the Baptist. The assemblage was largely comprised of flakes from a blade-based industry, likely representing debitage and the waste from the working of cores to produce tools. {1} A further scatter of Mesolithic or early Neolithic flints was identified in March 2015, during a second programme of systematic field walking, conducted in the field to the south of the village known as Home Field. The assemblage was again largely comprised of flakes from a blade-based industry, probably representing debitage and waste fragments. {2}
