Full Description

A former level crossing keepers cottage at Robin Hood's Walk. The crossing was on part of the Great Northern Railway's, East Lincolnshire Railway line, this part of which opened in October 1848. The cottage was built to a standardised design that appeared on all the manned crossings of the Boston to Firsby stretch of the ELR. The basic design was L-shaped, with the long arm of the L running parallel to the railway. The cottage is of two storeys, and was built of red brick with pitched tile roofs. The building is still extant, although has had a number of modern extensions added, and is now in use as a private residence. {1}{2}
