Full Description

The Grimoldby war memorial is a 9ft (3m) white granite obelisk mounted on a pedestal and three-stepped base, now largely moss-covered. It stands in the churchyard of the Church of St Edith. The original unveiling date is unknown, however, a ceremony was undertaken in 2012 which M. Credland describes as an unveiling. {1} A First World War memorial, unveiled on 2 October 1921. Thirty-four men and two nurses had left the village for the war and the memorial was built to honour the ten who did not return. The memorial is located within the churchyard of the Church of St Edith, and it comprises a simple yet dignified rough-hewn granite obelisk, about 2.7m high, mounted on a plinth and a three-stepped base.
