Full Description

A former signal box at Kirton Railway Station. The station was on part of the Lincolnshire Loop line, which was constructed by the Great Northern Railway in October 1848. The building was constructed of red brick with timber walls above the windows on parts of the walls, and featured a pitched slate roof. The main entrance was by a door on the southern elevation, although access to the lower room was at the north end. A catwalk was beneath the windows and a chimney was to the north-east. There were decorated boards on the gable ends. The building was extant in 1966, but was demolished at some point before the Boston to Algarkirk Diversion road was constructed in 1991. {1}
