Thorpe St Peter war memorial is a double stepped pedestal topped with a quadripartite gabled capping surmounted by a wheeled cross. Located in the churchyard of St Peter's Church, the memorial was unveiled in 1920 to commemorate those who died in the First World War. It later honoured the one additional man who died in the Second World War. {1} Thorpe St Peter War Memorial in the churchyard of the church of St Peter was unveiled on 15 August 1920, commemorating 9 local servicemen who died during the First World War. It was built by Messrs J T Turner and Sons of Barkham Street, Wainfleet. It is of Portland stone, about 2.7m tall. It has a square base, with a two-stage plinth. A square pedestal stands on the plinth, from which a small wheel-head cross rises to form the top of the memorial. The name of the one serviceman who died in the Second World War was added at a later date.
