The war memorial in Skirbeck Quarter is a simple white stone cross mounted on a pedestal and three-stepped base. The memorial, which was unveiled in 1921, stands in the churchyard of the Church of St Thomas. The fallen of the First World War are honoured by this memorial. {1} The Skirbeck Quarter War Memorial, in the churchyard of the Church of St Thomas, was unveiled on 2 October 1921. The memorial was designed by the architect Temple Moore and it commemorates 19 local servicemen who died during the First World War. Temple Lushington Moore (1856-1920) is known as one of Britain’s foremost church architects of the late 19th and early 20th century. He was responsible for the church of St Thomas, Skirbeck Quarter, as well as its war memorial. The war memorial is constructed of white stone and takes the form of a tall Latin cross rising from a plinth and three-stepped base.
