Full Description

The gardens associated with Theddlethorpe Hall are depicted on the 1st edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey County Series map. The gardens may date back to the founding of the original manor house on the site, thought to have been present in the 16th century. The boundaries of the gardens are defined by large ditches, which are still extant, as seen on Google Maps satellite imagery. {1}{2} Two 18th or 19th century cast iron cannons have been used as bollards at the entrance to the gardens from Saltfleet Road. Photographs of the cannons were taken in October 2007, during site visits conducted for the Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey. The cannons are possibly either 9 or 12 pounders. {3}
