Description

An archaeological excavation was carried out by Archaeological Project Services between October 2007 and May 2008, in advance of a proposed residential deveopment on land off School Lane, Old Leake, Lincolnshire. Excavations took place in two irregularly shaped trenches located within an area (measuring 65m by 17.5m) designated as containing deposits of particular archaeological significance. The excavation recorded alluvial deposits of probable Romano-British date, features associated with possible Saxo-Norman occupation, as well as sporadic evidence of medieval and post-medieval activity. {1}{2}
