Description

A magnetic susceptibility survey followed by targeted magnetometry survey was carried out by Archaeological Surveys. The magnetic susceptibility survey was affected by quantities of 'red gypsum' which had been spread across a large area of the site as soil conditioner. The magnetometry survey identified a number of linear and pit-like anomalies to the west of Park Farm which may be Roman in origin. These anomalies are within an area of known cropmarks although they bear little resemblance to the cropmarks. A curvilinear anomaly of possible prehistoric origin was also seen to the south of Park Farm. {1}
