Description

Within the modern cemetery to the west of Ancaster there is a Roman cemetery. In 1964 the university was formally requested by the Ancaster Burial Board to clear this site of Roman burials and stone coffins so that the modern interments could take place without disturbing archaeology. There was an annual series of excavations on this site from 1964 to 1968. {1}
