Description

An archaeological fieldwalking survey was undertaken on the proposed quarry extension area at Castle Bytham. This was carried out in order to establish the number and extent of slag concentrations and the presence or absence of any other finds concentrations. Two areas, comprising an discrete area of iron slag and a section of the crest of a ridge were subjected to a programme of intensive fieldwalking undertaken in 10m squares, measuring 50m by 100m.{1}
