Description
Archaeological fieldwalking was carried out on land proposed for development, on transects at 10m intervals, covering 10% of the total area. Objectives were: - to establish the presence/absence of archaeological remains and their location in the evaluation area, and to determine the level of further archaeological investigation required prior to development. The development area was divided into four areas defined by pre-existing field boundaries and trackways. Area B was under crop, making fieldwalking impossible except for on a strip 0.97ha in extent. The southern part of Area C did not require fieldwalking as it was disturbed by early quarrying activity.{1}
