Description
Trial trenching was carried out to assess the archaeological siginificance of the site and the impacts of proposed development, and to inform future planning decisions. Seven trenches were placed to investigate anomalies identified by a prior geophysical survey, and in blank areas. Trench 1 measured 20m by 2m, with an extension of 8.5m by 2.5m; Trench 2 measured 40m by 2m; Trenches 3, 4, 5 and 6 measured 20m by 2m; and Trench 7 measured 20m by 2m, with a 6m extension to the south.{1}
