Description

An evaluation, in the form of trial trenching, was undertaken on an area of land known as Area 5. Nine trenches were excavated, positioned to investigate geophysical anomalies and to assess the potential for features and deposits sealed beneath layers of colluvium. The trenches measured circa 30m by 2m, with the exception of Trench 3 (main section circa 9m long) and Trench 4 (circa 60m long). Trenches 8 and 9 were widened at their upper levels to allow for stepped excavation.{1}
