Description

An evaluation, in the form of trial trenching, was undertaken prior to proposed construction of a foodstore. Two trenches, each measuring 25m in length, were placed close to the presumed area of a major Anglo-Saxon cemetery. No evidence of the cemetery was observed, but standing structures on the site meant that the trial trenches could not be placed in the area of the site closest to the presumed cemetery. Medieval and post medieval features were recorded. {1}{2}
