Description

Excavations and building survey were undertaken at Bolingbroke Castle by the Ministry of Public Buildings and Works, supervised by Dr M.W. Thompson. The aim of the excavations was to reveal more clearly and then record the surviving walls of the castle, which had become overgrown and partially buried. The excavations took place over a period of at least five years, and subsequent excavation was undertaken on the probable Great Hall in 1973 (see ELI14422). {1}{2}{3}
