Description
Seven trial trenches were excavated as part of an evaluation programme on land South of Legsby Road, Market Rasen, to determine the archaeological potential prior to a residential development on the site. Archaeological remains were encountered in five of the seven trenches. The majority of these remains were gullies, though a possible post-hole and sub-circular pit were uncovered. All features were in various states of alignment. A single piece of modern pottery was found during the evaluation. Most of the features were undated, due to limited finds recovered from the site, with the exception being a modern feature in Trench 7 and two gullies in Trench 2. The archaeological potential of this site was deemed to be very low as a result of the excavation. {1}{2}
