Description
A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during groundworks for a new public sector hub on land at the former Horncastle College, Mareham Road, Horncastle. A brick-lined well measuring 0.80m in diameter, covered by a flat stone slab measuring 1.60m x 1.25m, was revelead. This well appears to be visible on the 1888 OS 1:500 scale map of Horncastle, with a short path leading north towards Horncastle Workhouse. No other archaeologically significant features, deposits or finds were encountered. {1}{2}
