Description

Seven trial trenches were excavated to inform the proposed construction of a new residential development on land at Orby Road, Burgh le Marsh. An east-west aligned ditch of Roman date and a circular medieval pit were identified, and a neolithic flint scraper was recovered from an alluvial silt layer. {1}{2} A magnetometry survey undertaken prior to the commencement of trial trenching did not identify any archaeologically significant features (see ELI13974).
