Description

Nine trial trenches were excavated to inform the proposed construction of a new residential estate on land off Lincoln Road, Ruskington. East-west aligned furrows relating to medieval and post-medieval agricultural practices were identified across the entire site. A single small gully, aligned northwest-southeast, was identified at the west end of the site, and a linear ditch, curvilinear feature, and pit were identified in the southwest corner of the site. All of the features were undated. A number of ceramic land drains of 19th to early 20th century date were also recorded, and corresponded to geophysical anomalies seen in the earlier magnetometric survey of the site (see ELI13951). {1}{2}
