Description

Four trial trenches were excavated to inform proposed residential development on land off Fiskerton Road, Reepham. The trenches were placed evenly across the proposed development area, but also targeted an area of faint magnetic anomalies in the south-east corner of the site, recorded by a prior magnetometry survey (see ELI13288). The truncated remains of medieval ridge and furrow were recorded across the site, with a single sherd of 13th century Nottingham glazed ware pottery being recovered from one of the furrow fills. Relatively low level activity of probable Roman date was also recorded in the south-eastern corner of the site, comprising the remains of a narrow ditch or gully, and a ditch or elongated pit. A few pieces of Roman tegula and late 1st to early 2nd century Roman pottery were recovered from these features and the overlying subsoil. {1}{2}
