Description
A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during groundworks for the construction of two new dwellings on land at 132 Bridge Road, Sutton Bridge. Features relating to the early development of Sutton Bridge as a settlement were recorded, including the remains of several pits and ditches. The remains of a brick cistern and wall were also recorded, along with a layer of demolition debris. These features were thought to derive from a former structure in this area that predated the 1836 Wesleyan chapel, possibly being from the earlier Wesleyan chapel known to have been on the site. {1}{2}
