Full Description

Former Wesleyan Methodist chapel at Bridge Road. It was built in 1836 to replace an earlier chapel of 1811 on the same site. The building was demolished before 2010, though a few lower courses of red brick and the lower part of a pillar survived. Census xlv Wesleyan Bridge. {1}{2}{3}{4} Features that were thought to be associated with the earlier 1811 Wesleyan chapel were recorded in May 2015, during archaeological monitoring of new development at 132 Bridge Road. The features comprised a spread of demolition debris, which likely originated from the replacement of the earlier chapel in 1836, and the adjacent remains of a brick cistern and wall. {5}{6}
