Description

A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during groundworks for residential development on land at the former HP Foods factory site, Whitehorse Lane, Boston. The monitoring recorded the remains of two pits and a construction trench for a 19th century building, thought to be related to the former use of this area for shipbuilding. These features were cut into extensive post-medieval demolition deposits that were thought to derive from the removal of earlier structures, also likely associated with the shipbuilding activity of this area. A single redeposited fragment of medieval tile was also recovered. {1}{2}
