Following desk top assessment, geophysical survey and trial trenching phase of archaeological investigation was carried out. This comprised excavation of 1msq pits set out in a grid pattern across the east field, cleaning up of an area up to 2500msq after topsoil stripping, recording of any features revealed prior to sand and gravel extraction.
