Description

A watching brief was undertaken during the insertion of a new outfall pipe at Swinderby Sewage Treatment Works, Thurlby. Substantial fragments of an early prehistoric pottery vessel were found in close proximity to a heavily patinated flint blade. Several fragments of metal were also recovered, and were thought to be debris from an Avro Manchester aircraft, that crashed somewhere nearby during the Second World War. {1}{2}
