Description

A heritage statement was produced after a site visit and historical research into Claxby Hall, Claxby St Andrew, conducted to inform proposed repair works and alterations to the structure. Claxby Hall is believed to have been constructed by James Bateman in 1752, as a dower house for Well Vale House. The building has a number of late 18th or early 19th century extensions and 20th century alterations, but was severely damaged by fire in November 2011. {1}
