Description
A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during groundworks for the installation of a new toilet and associated sewer pipe trench at the Church of St Nicholas, Barkston. No archaeological features were encountered, although fragments from a late medieval Cistercian ware cup were found inside the tower area. A small quantity of redeposited human bone was also identified in the graveyard soil outside the church. {1}{2}
