Description

One of the Bronze Age barrows in the Otby Top Barrow Cemetery was subject to partial excavation in 1969. A single trial trench was excavated, which cut through part of the encircling ditch of the ploughed out barrow at TF 1397 9542. A number of Bronze Age waste flint flakes were recovered from the bottom of the plough soil, together with fragments of animal and human bones. A number of redeposited Neolithic pottery sherds were also recovered, suggesting the barrow was located on the site of earlier activity. {1}
