Description
CORBY GLEN CHURCH STREET TF 02 NW (north side) 3/75 Barn to Church Farmhouse II Former gatehouse, now barn. Incorporating medieval masonry, otherwise C18 with C19 and C20 alterations. Ashlar and squared coursed limestone rubble, pantile roof. 2 storey, irregular 3 bay front having off-centre planked C19 door. With above 2 fixed lights, one C20 and the other in a chamfered stone surround, with 3 breathers. To right is a projecting coped buttress and an area of earlier masonry. The right hand angle is chamfered and the lower part of the gable is of good massive ashlar. To the right hand side of the gable are 5 stones of an octagonally moulded respond. This was probably an entrance to Corby Castle which lies immediately to the north. A Scheduled Ancient Monument No. 318. Listing NGR: TF0000525012
