Title Land at Caenby Corner
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2003

Abstract/Summary

Archive for the excavation of a single trial trench, dug to inform proposed development on land at Caenby Corner. The trench was targeted to investigate two geophysical anomalies recorded by a prior magnetometry survey, thought to represent the remains of former enclosures or areas of burning (see ELI 4293). The investigation resolved one of the magnetic anomalies as being a dump of clearly modern material, but confirmed the other anomaly as being a thin deposit of burnt material of unknown though likely archaeological origin. The remains of a probable post hole of unknown date was also recorded, cutting into the natural geology near to the deposit of burnt material.
