Abstract/Summary
Report on a fluxgate gradiometer survey, conducted to inform the proposed creation of a new green burial area on land adjacent to St Mary's Church, Church Lane, Wainfleet St Mary. Most of the recorded magnetic anomalies were thought to relate to 20th century agricultural activity and land drains, although a small area in the south-eastern corner of the site exhibited some potential as an area of burning or high temperature activity.
Subsequent trial trenching in this area resolved the magnetic anomaly in the south-eastern corner as a natural hollow, and no features of archaeological significance were encountered (see ELI14840).
