Abstract/Summary
Report on a programme of trial trenching comprising fifty five trial trenches excavated to inform proposed residential development on land at Hall Gate, Holbeach. Evidence of a Late Saxon to early Medieval salt-working site was recorded in the northeastern end of the site, with a former post-Medieval fish pond and later field boundaries also being recorded in this area. Large numbers of natural relict creeks and channels, and the former course of the Holbeach river were noted in the southwest and southeast ends of the site.
