Full Description

A jetton of Queen Anne was recovered from an unstratified context on land to the east of Manor Farm, Holbeach, during trial trenching in October-November 2015. The jetton has the bust of Queen Anne on the observe with the legend ANNA DGMAG BR FR ET HIB R (‘Anne, by the grace of God, Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland’). The reverse shows a large church and the legend FVNDAMENTVM QVIETIS NOSTRAE (‘the basis of our peace’) with ECCLES ANGL (‘church of England’) in the exergue. {1}{2}
