Abstract/Summary
The archive on a programme of archaeological trial trenching consisting of four trenches was undertaken on land at 20 Gosberton Road, Surfleet. The work was undertaken prior to a proposed residential development. Archaeological activity appeared in the northern most trench, which conisited of several linear anomalies and a feature identified as either a large pit or possible channel on the west end of the trench. A large pit was identified on the east end of the pit. Within the pit was a charred deposit, containing an assemblage of cleaned grain, suggesting the burning of a granary nearby. Finds from this work included brick fragments, aniomal bones, a fragment of clay pipe, and pottery sherds of medieval date.
