Description

The archive on a programme of archaeological evaluation undertaken on land at Snake Hall Cottage, 105 Euagate Road, Moulton Eaugate. The work consisted of two evaluation trenches which were dug prior to a proposed residential development. The works revealed a ditch which was interpretated as the eastern terminus of the moated enclosure of Snake Hall (MLI22122), as well as a dyke or drainage that enclosed an outbuilding situated on the northeastern end of the moat. The moat contained bricks dating from the 14th to 16th century. Sherds of pottery of late 15th to late 16th date were uncovered from the dyke, suggesting the dyke and moat were contemporary.
