Abstract/Summary
Archive for an archaeological excavation conducted on land at 'Holwell' on St Paul's Street, Stamford, prior to the construction of a residential development. The excavation revealed a series of Medieval features pre-dating the Carmelite Friary established on the site in the 13th century, including a limestone wall which may originally have been a retaining wall for terracing. The site yielded no features and only a small number of finds of 13th to 18th century date, indicating that this was open ground during that period.
