HER Report no. 7467

Abstract/Summary

Heritage statement produced to inform proposed alterations to the White Cottage, South Kelsey. The building was originally constructed c.1760 as a timber-framed cottage, though has been subject to considerable alterations and re-building, notably after a tanker vehicle crash caused significant damage to the western end in 1990. The building had mistakenly been previously thought to be a former Primitive Methodist Chapel, depicted in this area on historic maps. That chapel is now known to have been on the opposite side of the road to the White Cottage, and was demolished c.1945.
