Abstract/Summary
Archive for a historic building survey conducted on a barn at 20 Chapman Street, Market Rasen, prior to its demolition and the construction of a new residential dwelling on the site. The surveyed building was a single storey, three bay barn constructed of red brick, under a pitched gabled pantile roof. It was constructed in 1871-2. The north elevation was originally open, with 3 three-pointed arched openings. Above each opening were three string courses of yellow and red brick below eaves height, with three more at mid level built of red brick and tile. Each arched opening had a sawtooth dentil course above. A simple modern lean-to extension was added to the west end of the north elevation at some point in the 20th century.
