Abstract/Summary
Report on a historic building survey undertaken at The Maltings, 2b Lea Road, Gainsborough, to fulfill a planning condition prior to its conversion to residential appartments. The survey area comprised three buildings: the 18th century malthouse building which runs parallel to the street frontage on Lea Road, a smaller office building adjoining the northern end of the malthouse, and a further multi-use structure joined to its western elevation. Both the northern and western buildings are later additions. All three are constructed in red brick, with pitched slate roofs. There is significant evidence of multiple phases of adaptation and alteration. All three buildings were the subject of a full photographic and descriptive survey, both internally and externally.
