Full Description

18th century malthouse building with later extensions and alterations. Red brick in various brick bonds, under pitched gabled roofs of tile. The original malthouse building, forming the majority of the street frontage along Lea Road, dates to the late 18th or very early 19th century and contained two germination floors. An extension was added to the west in the mid-19th century, which included a drying kiln, and may have also contained warehouse space. A third phase of building in the late 19th or early 20th century consisted of a small northern extension later converted into offices. Its original use is not known. {1}{2}
