Report on a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording conducted during groundworks for a new teaching block on land at Bourne Grammar School. Two pits and a gully of likely Roman date were identified. These were sealed by a Medieval or post-Medieval plough soil, within which a possible hearth base was encountered. This comprised a layer of burnt clay ~0.11m deep, suggesting burning at a very high temperature (such as within a kiln) or the prolonged use of a hearth. All of the archaeology on the site was heavily truncated by modern service trenches associated with a demolished modern school building on the same site.
