Report on a historic building survey undertaken to inform proposed extension and adaptation of the former vicarage at 31 East Street. The house was built in 1852-3 by James Fowler of Louth, a reknowned local church architect, and is one of his earlier works. It was in use as a vicarage until 1990 when it passed into private hands. The house is of red brick construction with limestone window surrounds and yellow brick diapering on all of the original exterior elevations. It has a gabled pitched slate roof with decorative crested ridge tiles. Some of the windows are later additions and interrupt the pattern of the brick diapering. The interior has undergone significant modern alteration but still retains several original features including the entrance hall and at least one fireplace.
