Description
Archive for the programme of archaeological monitoring and recording conducted during groundworks associated with the construction of a new residential dwelling with a detached garage on land adjacent to Sandilands, Fen Road, East Kirkby, carried out in August 2018. The cut of a possible 18th century pond was identified in the area of the detached garage. Two ditches, one of which contained late 12th-mid 13th century pottery, representing a T-section of a medieval field system were identified in the footprint of the new house build. To the south-west of this feature was the cut of a single undated posthole. To the north-west were the cuts of two possible rubbish pits, one of which contained mid 12th-13th century pottery. No further archaeological features were identified.
