Report on a fluxgate gradiometer survey, conducted to inform proposed development on land off Horncastle Road, Horncastle. Remains of east to west aligned medieval ridge and furrow were identified across the surveyed field. Remains of more recent activity were also identified, including a former field boundary, well and pumphouse, all thought to be of likely late post-medieval date but removed in the mid 20th century. Subsequent trial trenching in this area appeared to confirm the presence of ridge and furrow remains, along with a series of modern land drains running across the site (see ELI13491).
