Abstract/Summary

Report on a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording, conducted during groundworks for a new residential dwelling and detached garages on land between 7-9 Greetwell Road, Lincoln. No features of archaeological significance were identified, although redeposited fragments of medieval roof tiles and pottery were recovered, along with 18th-19th century brick, early modern pantile, 19th century clay tobacco pipe, and a counter made out of a sherd of an 18th century vessel. These artefacts were found in what were thought to be probable footing trenches for garden walls and planting pits, very likely dating to the early 20th century. Redeposited fragments of Roman roof tile were also recovered from the subsoil. programme of archaeological monitoring and recording that was conducted during groundworks for a new residential dwelling and detached garages on the land between 7-9 Greetwell Road, Lincoln.
