Archive for the excavation of fifteen trial trenches, dug to inform proposed development on land to the south of Chestnut Drive, Louth. The trenches were targeted to investigate a number of geophysical anomalies recorded by a prior magnetometry survey (see ELI12948). The trenching resolved most of the identified magnetic anomalies as the remains of natural river channels and areas of geological variation, although did record a single ditch of uncertain date at the western end of the site.
