Title Land off Poachers Lane, Sudbrooke
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2013

Abstract/Summary

Archive for the excavation of ten trial trenches, dug to inform proposed residential development on land off Poachers Lane, Sudbrooke. The trenches were targeted to investigate a number of geophysical anomalies recorded by a prior magnetometry survey (see ELI11473), and resolved most of the recorded magnetic anomalies as being either modern disturbance or of natural geological origin, including a large palaeochannel, most likely the remains of a former course of Nettleham Beck. The trenching did identify the remains of a probable Roman hard, however, and an Iron Age ditch and an undated trackway, neither identified by the geophysical survey, were also recorded.
